Applications are now open for the ACHS International Medal 2026, a prestigious award recognising exceptional individuals who are advancing healthcare quality and safety on a global scale.
Through this award, ACHS International celebrates those who are shaping safer, higher-quality healthcare for communities across diverse international settings.
Who Should Apply or Be Nominated?
Candidates may either apply directly or be nominated by a colleague. We encourage submissions from individuals who are making a meaningful difference in healthcare quality and safety through:
Distinguished leadership in quality practices
Outstanding research advancing the quality and safety of health systems
Outstanding achievement in maintaining a continuous quality improvement focus in healthcare delivery systems
Outstanding achievement in the promotion of quality in health care
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
Must not be an Australian citizen or dual citizen or permanent resident; and
Must reside outside of Australia; and
Must have made or be making a significant contribution to the global healthcare community; and
Must consistently demonstrate performance that goes above and beyond core professional responsibilities as outlined in your job or position description; and
Demonstrate at least one (1) of the following: o Distinguished leadership in quality practices and implementation;
All applications and nominations must be submitted in writing via the online form.
Submissions close on Monday, 27 April 2026, at 11:59 AEST.
ACHSI Medal Winners 2025
Last year’s ACHS International Medal recipients exemplify global leadership, innovation and a deep commitment to improving quality and safety in healthcare.
From the Middle East, Dr Mostafa Ghalwash, now CEO of Middle East Healthcare Company (MEAHCO) Egypt and formerly Chief of Quality, Saudi German Health at the time of the award - was recognised for his transformative leadership in value-based healthcare and patient-reported outcomes, setting new national benchmarks across Saudi Arabia.
Representing the Asia Pacific region, Professor Ying-Ying Yang from Taipei Veterans General Hospital was honoured for her pioneering integration of augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence into medical education and clinical innovation, delivering real-world improvements in patient care and safety.
