Centre of Excellence (CoE)

ACHS International (ACHSI) offers healthcare organisations the opportunity to excel beyond accreditation, certifying a specialty, service, or department within a healthcare organisation by validating excellence in the care delivered in a defined patient service. It demonstrates the service or specialty is committed to upholding additional compliance, quality, and safety standards.  ACHSI's CoE program aims to promote excellence in healthcare by recognising and sharing best practices among organisations that have achieved outstanding levels of performance in specific areas of healthcare.

ACHSI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) program in healthcare refers to a specialised healthcare facility or unit that offers exceptional medical care, advanced technology, and expertise in treating specific medical conditions or diseases. The goal of a CoE is to provide the highest quality of care to patients and to improve health outcomes.

A CoE typically focuses on a specific area of medicine or disease, such as cancer treatment, cardiac care, neurology, or orthopedics. These centres bring together highly skilled and experienced healthcare professionals, advanced medical technologies, and evidence-based clinical practices to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.

Centre of Excellence Explained

Centre of Excellence Explained

Centre of Excellence (CoE) program is recognition that identifies and promotes organisations that demonstrate exceptional levels of performance in a specific area of healthcare.

To be recognised as an ACHSI CoE, an organisation must meet the following criteria:

  • Expertise: The organisation must demonstrate expertise in a specific area of healthcare, such as cancer care, cardiovascular care, or dialysis.
  • Clinical Outcomes: The organisation must demonstrate outstanding clinical outcomes, as measured by objective performance indicators.
  • Patient Experience: The organisation must provide exceptional patient experience, including patient-centred care, effective communication, and respect for patients' cultural and linguistic needs.
  • Education: The organisation must demonstrate a commitment to education, including the training of healthcare professionals.
  • Continuous Improvement: The organisation must have a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on innovation, quality improvement, and patient safety.

ACHSI’s approach and assessors are very different to other accrediting bodies. With ACHSI we felt like a collaborative approach, we felt quality improvement actually took place this time, very thankful to the whole ACHSI team.
