Why learn about AI in healthcare?
In an interview with Hospital and Healthcare, ACHS and ACHS International (ACHSI) CEO Dr Karen Luxford spoke about how AI is reshaping healthcare quality and governance. Dr Luxford noted that at its current speed of development, AI is outpacing legal frameworks, ethics principles, and governance structures. This development underscores the need to continually reassess these structures so that safety standards can be upheld across all areas of healthcare.
Training in the AI space is so important. Ideally, we need to upskill people to a level where they fully understand the benefits and risks, as well as implications for areas like patient privacy. If staff only know how to operate the technology and nothing else, that is not sufficient.
