Meet Ivory Sison-Marin - Business Operations Lead

Welcome to our Staff Spotlight where we introduce our team who work to support ACHS International Members.

In this edition, we meet Ivory Sison-Marin, who joined ACHS International as Business Operations Lead – Middle East, Africa & South Asia.

Can you tell us a bit about your role as Business Operations Lead at ACHSI, and what drew you to working in global healthcare?

In my role, I act as a key bridge between our Members in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia and the wider ACHS/ACHSI team. I support Members throughout their journey by managing contracts, coordinating the Member experience, and responding to enquiries from both existing and prospective Members to ensure a smooth and positive experience.

What drew me to global healthcare is the opportunity to support organisations in improving quality and patient care on an international scale by ensuring strong systems, coordination, and operational support that enable sustainable improvement.

You’ve worked in administrative and operations roles across major healthcare organisations for nearly two decades. What have those experiences taught you about supporting people and systems effectively?

Nearly two decades in operations and administration have taught me that behind every successful organisation is a team working quietly but deliberately to keep things moving. I’ve learned the value of anticipating needs before they arise, creating clarity and structure in complex environments, and being a steady, reliable presence that allows others to focus on strategy and impact. At its core, effective support, whether for people or systems—comes down to consistency, trust, and attention to detail.

What do you enjoy most about working with Members across different countries and regions?

What I enjoy most is getting to know people from diverse backgrounds and roles and learning from the wide range of perspectives they bring. Working with Members across different cultures and healthcare settings is incredibly enriching, and building strong, trusted relationships while supporting them on their journey is deeply fulfilling.

What comes to mind when you think of healthcare quality improvement?

For me, healthcare quality improvement is about continuous learning and ensuring that patient care is safe, consistent, and effective. It’s not just about ticking boxes—it’s about creating systems and cultures where excellence is achievable and sustainable, and where every improvement has a real impact on people’s lives.

What healthcare topic interests you most?

I’m most interested in how accreditation can be used as a tool for improvement rather than simply compliance. Seeing organisations embrace the process to strengthen their systems, empower staff, and ultimately improve patient care is fascinating, and it’s inspiring to play even a small part in that transformation.

How do you practice self-care and maintain work-life balance?

I try to maintain balance by dedicating time each day to my family, quiet reflection, exercise and disconnecting from work as much as possible after hours and on weekends. Having structured routines and carving out moments for personal growth or simply pausing to recharge helps me stay focused and energised. In a role that’s fast-paced and often unpredictable, these small habits make a meaningful difference.

Thank you Ivory, for sharing your insights and experience with us. We look forward to bringing you further Staff Spotlight articles in the future and showcasing the incredible talent that we foster at ACHSI.
