Badr Al Samaa Group recently spoke to ACHSI about their accreditation experience and how they are committing to excellence in patient safety and care.

1. Tell me a little bit about your organisation.
Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals & Medical Centres made its beginnings in 2002 as a Polyclinic and gradually became the largest private healthcare group of Oman. The group spread its wings and became multinational, having presence in Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Presently we have 14 branches spread across Oman with 6 Multi speciality Hospitals, 7 Medical Centres and one Centre of Excellence in Ophthalmology. Four of our hospitals are ACHSI accredited since 2022.
2. How many staff do you have working there, and how many clients?
Presently we have 1500+ healthcare workers in Oman with an average 10000+ outpatient department daily patient footfall.
3. What was the process like going through your assessment?
The ACHSI assessment process helped us to identify and address areas where we can improve our quality and safety standards. It is also an opportunity for us to learn from other ACHSI healthcare members and to benchmark our performance against the best practices.
4. How was the experience? Was there anything in particular you learnt?
The experience of ACHSI Accreditation was amazing and rewarding. It was a rigorous process that required us to undergo a comprehensive evaluation of our quality and safety standards. However, the benefits of accreditation are significant, including:
• Improved patient care and safety
• Enhanced reputation and credibility
• Reduced risk in all aspects
5. How did you regard what the Assessors brought to the assessment?
Overall, ACHSI assessors played a vital role and helped us to improve the quality and safety of our services. They bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills to the assessment process. They worked collaboratively with our hospital staff to understand our operations and identify areas for improvement. They were respectful and supportive, and they created an environment where staff feel comfortable sharing their feedback and experiences.
6. Do you have any advice for other members going through these programs?
ACHSI accreditation is not a one-person’s job. It requires the involvement of all staff members, from the CEO to the front-line workers. Make sure to communicate the accreditation process to all staff members and to get their input and feedback. In the process of continuous quality improvement.
7. What does international accreditation mean to you and your organisation?
It is a validation of our commitment to providing high-quality, safe care to our patients. It also shows that we are meeting the highest international standards for healthcare quality.
