ACHS International partnered with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and Mass Media to deliver a two-week surveyor training program
Strengthening healthcare quality and patient safety requires skilled people who can assess how care is delivered, identify opportunities for improvement and support healthcare organisations to translate standards into practice.
ACHS International is honoured to have been selected by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, through the Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau, Sri Lanka, to support this work through the National Surveyor Training Program, held from 20–31 July 2026.
Over two intensive weeks, 60 senior healthcare professionals selected by the Ministry of Health undertook comprehensive training to become national surveyors. The program is helping build Sri Lanka’s capability to assess, improve and sustain healthcare quality and patient safety across the country.
Participants explored the principles and practical application of accreditation, including survey methodology, evaluation techniques, patient-centred care, risk management and quality improvement. Through a combination of learning and practical application, the program is designed to develop a skilled and consistent survey workforce equipped to conduct evidence-based assessments against Sri Lanka’s national standards.
The training was delivered by an experienced ACHS faculty, including Louise Cuskelly, Executive Director, ACHS International & Consulting, Darlene Hennessy, Director, Assessor Division, and Vince Gaglioti, Lead Assessor.
The program builds on the formal partnership between ACHS International and the Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau, established to support the development of Sri Lanka’s national surveyor capability.
Developing a strong national survey workforce is an important step towards strengthening healthcare quality systems and supporting safer, more effective care for patients across Sri Lanka.
ACHS International thanks the Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau for its leadership and vision and congratulates all participants on their commitment to strengthening healthcare quality and patient safety.
